Katbot Terms of Service

1. Overview

Welcome to Katbot (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Katbot’s website, APIs, smart contract oracles, and related tools (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Services.


2. About Katbot

Katbot provides trusted, time-series data on the global economy, science, and society through:

  • EVM-compatible Oracles for smart contracts
  • REST APIs for off-chain applications
  • MCP tools for LLM and AI agent integration

Our Services are designed for developers and researchers who wish to build decentralized, automated, and data-informed applications.


3. Definitions

Term Definition
“Services” All APIs, data feeds, websites, smart contracts, and tools provided by Katbot.
“User” Any person or entity accessing or using the Services.
“Wallet” or “Web3 Wallet” A cryptographic account used for authentication and transactions (e.g., MetaMask).
“API Key” A unique identifier issued to users for accessing Katbot’s REST API.
“Data” Publicly available time-series metrics or derived indicators accessible via the Services.
“PII” Personally Identifiable Information, which Katbot does not collect or store.

4. Eligibility

You may use the Services only if:

  • You are at least 18 years old (or of legal age in your jurisdiction).
  • You have the legal authority to enter into these Terms.
  • You use the Services in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Use of Katbot’s APIs or oracles for unlawful purposes is strictly prohibited.


5. Wallet Authentication

Katbot uses MetaMask or equivalent Web3 wallet authentication as the primary method of user verification.

  • No username or password is required.
  • Katbot never stores private keys, seed phrases, or signature payloads.
  • You are solely responsible for maintaining control of your wallet credentials.

By connecting your wallet, you agree that your public blockchain address may be stored for access control, logging, and billing purposes.


6. Account and API Keys

For REST API usage, you may be issued one or more API keys associated with your wallet address.

You agree to:

  • Keep your API keys confidential.
  • Use them only for lawful, authorized purposes.
  • Not share or resell API access without written consent from Katbot.

Katbot reserves the right to revoke or rate-limit API keys in the event of misuse, abuse, or violation of these Terms.


7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  1. Interfere with, damage, or disrupt the Services or underlying infrastructure.
  2. Attempt to access or extract non-public data or metrics.
  3. Circumvent authentication or usage limits.
  4. Use the Services in violation of applicable financial, data, or export laws.
  5. Use Katbot data to support disinformation, harm, or manipulation of markets.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any reason, including security or compliance concerns.


8. Data and Content

  • Katbot’s data and derived metrics are provided “as is” for informational purposes only.
  • No warranty is made regarding accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.
  • You acknowledge that macroeconomic data may come from third-party sources such as FRED, OECD, or public APIs.

You are responsible for verifying any data before relying on it in financial, scientific, or operational decisions.


9. API Access Limits

  • Katbot may enforce rate limits or usage quotas to ensure fair and stable service.
  • Requests beyond these limits may be throttled or rejected automatically.
  • Users with subscription plans (Free, Starter, Pro, Enterprise) are bound by the terms of their selected tier.

Abuse of system resources, including excessive requests or denial-of-service activity, may result in immediate suspension.


10. Fees and Payments

Access to Katbot Services may be subject to subscription or usage-based fees. Fees are disclosed in the relevant documentation or pricing page.

All payments are non-refundable except as required by law.


11. Data Privacy

Your privacy is governed by the Katbot Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.

In summary:

  • Katbot does not collect or store personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Wallet addresses and API logs may be stored for operational integrity and abuse prevention.
  • Katbot does not sell or share user data with third parties.

12. Intellectual Property

  • All code, documentation, branding, and data structures related to Katbot are the intellectual property of Katbot or its licensors.
  • You may use Katbot APIs to build derivative software, provided you comply with applicable license terms.
  • You may not copy, resell, or repackage Katbot data without written consent.

All trademarks, logos, and trade names remain the property of their respective owners.


13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Katbot DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • MERCHANTABILITY
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • RELIABILITY OR AVAILABILITY OF DATA

YOU USE THE SERVICES AT YOUR OWN RISK.


14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Katbot and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Services.
  • Our total liability under these Terms shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

This limitation applies to all claims, regardless of the form of action (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, etc.).


15. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. Katbot may suspend or terminate your access without notice if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
  • Pose a security risk to the platform or others

Upon termination, your right to access the Services immediately ceases. Sections related to intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability will survive termination.


16. Modifications

We may update these Terms periodically. The most current version will always be available on our website with a “Last Updated” date.

Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.


17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
